A letter from Superintendent, Bruce Beasley

Dear Families,

Welcome to the 2016-17 school year! It is a great pleasure to welcome both our returning families and those new to our system. Our current enrollment numbers are pretty consistent with the numbers we have been anticipating all summer.

SAU 7 administrators and teachers spend a great deal of time during the summer preparing for the upcoming year. I was very pleased to see a large number of staff members working during the summer months, preparing to welcome every child back to school.

On August 29th, a SAU 7 staff day was held.  It was here that I encouraged staff to find the good in every child, in each other, in their community, and in SAU 7.  I encourage you as a parent and/or as a community member to do the same.  Find the good in our schools and communities.   By working together we will make a difference in the education of every child.

September provides an opportunity to check and adjust our goals, to establish new relationships and to take on year-long challenges.  While student learning is always our focus, the social and emotional needs of our students, is a growing concern.  We are fortunate to have the support of the Project Aware Grant to tackle these challenges.

My most important goal for the coming year is to connect every school in SAU 7 to their community and to the 5 towns that make up our SAU.  I plan to be in schools on a regular basis, reading with students, evaluating staff, and celebrating the excellent work that is being done.  It is with an open mind that I look forward to feedback from students, parents, staff, and community members.

As I begin my tenure in SAU 7, please know that I am always available to meet with you or talk with you regarding the education of our most important asset, the children.  I look forward to a terrific year!

Bruce Beasley
